International freight routes are growing

Since the beginning of this year, the volume of freight and postal transportation has continued to grow. Driven by industries such as cross-border e-commerce, the proportion of international route freight volume has shown an upward trend, becoming an important growth point for air logistics. In the first half of this year, the international freight and postal transportation volume reached 2.037 million tons, a year-on-year increase of 23.4%.

As of June 30th, 2025, a total of 145 new air cargo routes will be opened nationwide. Among them, there were 117 international air cargo routes, a year-on-year increase of 58.1%.

The main players in the aviation logistics market are accelerating their growth. As of the end of June, there were 17 cargo airlines and 249 cargo planes in China. The international freight market share of Chinese aviation enterprises has reached 44%, an increase of 4 percentage points year-on-year. In this year's Top 50 Global Air Freight Forwarders list, there are a total of 14 Chinese companies on the list, an increase of 4 from 2024.

In addition, the concentration of air logistics hubs is becoming increasingly prominent. The total GDP of the cities where the 20 airport type national logistics hubs are located exceeds a quarter of the national GDP, and the combined cargo volume of the 20 hub airports exceeds 80% of the national airport cargo volume.

It is reported that China has formed an air cargo channel with major urban agglomerations and metropolitan areas as the core domestically, and has already opened to 106 cities in 50 countries abroad, providing smooth access to major core markets around the world.
